In the first update since the crash, Waterbury Police said the boy had just gotten off the bus and was walking across the street to meet his parent when the bus hit him.
Authorities have not released what school the boy attends, or if the driver faces any charges.

Original: A 6-year-old Connecticut boy was hospitalized on Thursday, Oct. 3, after he was struck by a school bus, authorities said.
The crash happened just after 4 p.m. near 24 Garden Hill Circle in Waterbury in New Haven County, police said.
Paramedics took the boy to Saint Mary’s Hospital, but he was transferred to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford, Waterbury Police said.
The child is listed in stable condition, but he suffered serious injuries in the crash, police said. An initial investigation said the boy was in the roadway when the bus hit him.
Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
